Maple Street Dance Space Instructor: Elizabeth Battarbee 228-7857 Restorative Movement/Creative Dance. Elizabeth Battarbee is a Louisiana native who came to Albuquerque to further explore therapeutic dance. Her movement background includes various athletics as well as ballet, modern, and African dance, Flamenco, Pilates, Feldenkraiss, Authentic Movement, Contact Improvisation, Yoga, Chigong, Tai chi, Kung Fu, and more. She aspires to use therapeutic movement and dance to help people from diverse backgrounds live fuller, healthier lives. Her classes are designed to nurture and support students unique creative expression and foster a sense of community.
Elizabeth facilitated creative dance classes with at risk youth in Louisiana. In Albuquerque she worked with developmentally disabled adults at Very Special Arts before earning a degree from UNM in Psychology and Dance. Currently Elizabeth is facilitating classes with children and developmentally disabled adults at Keshet Dance Company. She is also working with adult and geriatric patients in the UNM Mental Health Center, and staff members at the UNM Cancer Center.
