Maple Street Dance Space Instructor: Dustin Maxwell 505-553-3450 Visiting Artist and Special Guest Teacher. Moving with Intention, Modern/Contemporary Dance Workshop. Dustin Maxwell was born in 1982 in Albuquerque, New Mexico USA. He began training in ballet as a child but after his face collided with the ballet bar he decided to play the piano instead. In his early teens he was convinced to make amends with the ballet bar and they decided that they liked each other again. In 1998 he met Joanne Emmons who danced with Martha Graham and Jose Limon and she mentored Dustin in the Amercian Classical Modern techniques. Ms Emmons, along with his ballet teacher, Celia Dale invited him to help them form their new company, Contemporary Dance Ensemble, in which he danced for the next four years. He received his Bachelors in Dance from the University of Minnesota and now works as a freelance dance artist based in Minneapolis, MN. He often works with a dance theater company called Time Track Productions and creates his own performance work in which he blends his skills as a visual artist and mover.
