Rujeko Dumbutshena is a native Zimbabwean who has been teaching dance in the US, Canada and Australia since 1994. She is known for her ability to clearly break down the complex rhythm and movements of Zimbabwean dance to all levels of dance students. Her workshops and classes explore fundamental aesthetics of African dance, using neo-traditional Zimbabwean dance technique. Grounding, strength, stability, and rhythm are emphasized as Rujeko helps her students to internalize the intricacies of African polyrhythm. By creating a friendly, non-threatening environment, Rujeko makes her workshops accessible to both non-dancers and dancers of all levels.
